The Shack

Anybody read this book?

I'm reading it now, by the prodding of a friend of mine who was utterly frustrated by it. Apparently, it's quite controversial and I enjoy a bit of controversy, so I'm digging into it. One critic gave The Shack equal status with "Pilgrim's Progress". That really surprised me, so I had to find out what all the heat's about.
It's a quick read at 250 pages. If you haven't yet, read it and tell me what you think. What did you love or hate about it?

I might read it--if I had your thoughts beforehand:)...you can email them to me personally if you want:). Is this a Christian author or just a person that writes about God? Do you find it as controversial as "most"? I've never heard of it before your post, but then again most of my friends don't read much!:(!

Yes, it's a Christian book. What "most" are you referring to? Michael W. Smith gave it a raving review. Eugene Peterson is responsible for the "Pilgrim's Progress" analogy.
Did you read the reviews on Amazon that I linked to? GOBS of reviews. Most either gave it 5 stars, or 1.

I was just saying "most" b/c of your line "Apparently, it's quite controversial "...I was referring to the people that told you or things that you read that said it was controversial. I haven't read the reviews...I 'll check them out now:).

I've never heard of it. If Mr. Peterson loves it, chances are it's no good.

Thanks for the link, Momma. I was trying to remember where I've heard his name before! Aha! The author of The Message.

I read it and posted about it on my blog, twice. I didn't like it, didn't agree with it and can't recommend it. You can find my review on my blog:

I think you can link to it from the sidebar.
