Countdown to Coop

The chicks have been home for a week now. We've already had to get a much bigger box for them, they're growing SO FAST!

Notice they're getting their feathers now. They have wing feathers and just yesterday, everybody got tail feathers. So cute!
We're now allowing the kids to hold and pet the chicks, we told them they had to be a week old first. You should see the chicks run when a little hand goes in the box.
Kyle has now floored and roofed the coop, so it looks great from the outside already. (I'll post pics later.) The chicks will move-in in another 4 weeks.

Hi Ginger!

I am SO envious!!! This is incredibly cool. Can we come over to get a peek? Please???

At first when the title read "Countdown to coop" i thought you meant co-op. I was all giddy because you were counting down the days until the Co-op! LOL

hi, beautiful chicks....If you have winged predators like owls or hawks, you may want to build a sort of movable coop like a chicken tractor to protect the chicks until they are laying. Once they are that big, most predators leave them alone. I found your blog off Jackson's blog.I love reading your blog.

Yes, we are building a coop and a chicken run.
Who's Jackson?

You will love having chickens. What a great way to provide fresh eggs for your family. What kind of chickens are they? We just got Rhode Island Reds (a skunk got 9 of them one night), but we still have 16 and should start laying soon and some adult Banties already laying. We (as in my husband) buried tin 2 feet deep around the exterior to deter predators from digging in. So far so good!

Good luck and enjoy!
