Did you know you can make delicious, healthy yogurt in your crock-pot? I'll never go back to store-bought now that I know how easy and cheap it is. Check it out!

Ginger, You say not to use ultra-pasteurized milk..what if that is all you can get? Thanks, Beth
Your local stores ONLY sell ultra-pasteurized milk?? I've never heard of such a thing! Usually they offer pasteurized or ultra-pasteurized. I guess don't make your own yogurt. I don't know! You've stumped me.
We have Walmart, Food Lion, Sam's and Piggly Wiggly (don't EVEN ask! LOL!) I buy either Stonyfield Farm Organic or Horizon's Organic milk, and both of them are ultra-pasturized.
No, I wouldn't make yogurt with powdered milk. I only use powdered milk for baking. I have 3 crock-pots. Two of them are 4 qt and my big red one is 7 qts. One of the small ones I use for overnight oatmeal or yogurt, the other one I use to make beans (which I'm always doing). The big one is for dinner. :)

Why can't you use u-pasturized?
Beth
Buy the WalMart brand then. :) I know they have pasteurized.
If it's ultra-pasteurized, you lose all the benefit of it being organic milk IMO. Just buy regular if that's your only option.
Have you used powdered milk and water instead of the liquid milk?
I love crock-pot idea. I've been wanting to try yogurt for a while.
Also, how many crockpots do you have? Different sizes?
