Encouragement

I've recently discovered this blog of a friend of mine. I think you'll enjoy it. He has recently been blogging about a book I also had strong feelings about- The Shack. I'm curious what you think of his analysis of the New York Times best seller that is touted as a great Christian book.

Thank you for this new blog. His comments and those that he posted from another source are right on about that book. It comes across as harmless and fiction but it is destructive and dangerous to knowing truly who our God is. I'm off now to read more of his posts!

I went to your friend's blog...I can't believe that the author of the Shack hasn't been exposed more on his core beliefs...very interesting that he doesn't even believe the teachings of the Bible all the way.
HMMMMM. I am glad to have known not to read it from you...I hate it that it's so popular---one step closer to the mark of the beast--as Kyle would put it, eh?
Love you guys,
Karen

Thanks for sharing this Ginger. I missed the first post about the book so went back and read all the comments just now, as well as reading your friend's blog. I have not read the book, but have heard such great things about it. Based in the little that was explained I now know I would not be comfortable reading it.

To comment on all the discussion that happened in the comments of your "I Quit" post I will say that I have seen people pull the "too much doctrine" argument all too often. Yes, it IS very important that people understand the relational aspect of Christianity, but correct doctrine and a personal relationship are EQUALLY important. We can't say "well, since the doctrine part has been overdone, it's okay to portray the relational aspect inaccurately for added emphasis." (As if the Bible needs added emphasis anyway!)

Correct doctrine is something I am very passionate about. I could go on and on about why.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing.

My husband and I have been discussing all the controversy over the shack and I had read to him your reviews on it about a month or so ago. He has since told me every time he sees someone with it and always asks what people think. I am curious but not willing to buy it to read it. He now is so curious that he does want to read it. I trust he won't be swayed by it - if he ever gets his hands on a copy - but the book just gives me the creeps.

It is on the front table right as you walk into our local Family Christian Store - makes me so mad as it is displayed with a Best Seller sign! Silly that I let it upset me - I haven't even read the book yet :{
