Strike a Pose

I wanted to do a post about my love of thrift stores and post some pictures of some great finds, but that would honestly be too many photos. So, I'll just show off one of Elena's favorites. See those fancy shmancy jeans? They looked brand new and they were an 8 slim. Whenever I find anything in slim, it doesn't matter what size it is, I buy it. Slim jeans are so hard to come by, I figure if we don't get to them, someone will.
Here, she's modeling her favorite jeans with her favorite shoes- her prized "cowgirl" boots.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand: I've been shopping at thrift stores since way back when we were a double income family and had no kids. I just love it. I feel like I've just won something. Somebody bought this nice Abercrombie & Fitch shirt, but decided it wasn't the right color and gave it away instead of returning it to the store. I'm happy to benefit from their laziness. Or somebody got these great jeans as a gift, but they're the wrong size and unreturnable. Drat, that Grandma Sue! But I'll take them and thanks! I've gotten so many awesome deals, I've lost count. All I know is, I've saved a FORTUNE. Clothes just feel better when they were a bargain.

I love thrift stores! I love coming home from Children's to find a bag of clothes on my porch! My girls are thrift store crazies! The only problem I have found is that trhift stores do not carry many 13+ sizes or XL in juniors/misses and we don't like fitted shirts for our girls. Otherwise, we LOVE the thrift stores. What would we do without them?

You don't have to post this comment, but I had to respond. First of all - I LOVE thrift stores too! Always a bargain hunter, I am!

Second, I'm surprised you allow your kids to wear Abercrombie & Fitch clothing. We don't allow it around here because of the way they objectify and sexualize little girls, and use such provocative, scantily clad models in their advertisements. It's not a store I would want my children ever associated with. Something to think about....

Abercrombie & Fitch was just an example. I could've said DKNY or Gap or whatever. A&F was just the first name brand that came to mind.

We thrift often, too. We don't have many thrift stores in my area, but whenever we go to the coast, we make sure to hit a few stores. Those left-coasties donate the best stuff! We watch for Columbia, Patagonia and other good outdoor brands mostly, and books, of course!

I LOVE thrift stores too. I don't shop there enough. Kathryn gets hand me downs from Stacey's girls, so I rarely have an excuse to buy for her. Sean has all of Lance's and another friend. BUT last week, when my planned outfit for the company Xmas party could not be buttoned...don't ask...I headed out to Bella Rosa here in Granbury. Bought a very nice Jones of New York evening dress for $22!!!! Man I felt all night.

What an alluring pose! I'm a little surprised those boots still fit Elena, but I'm glad she's gotten a lot of wear out of them. (Oh, yes, this is the child who wore a size one shoe until her first birthday.) Thank you again, Aunt Jeanne!!

Stacy,
I've been thinking about this more. If I pay $2 for an Abercrombie & Fitch shirt that someone bought from the store, unless it has their name emblazened across the front of the shirt, how am I supporting their company?? I haven't given A & F one dime.
