What Do You Do??

In my spare time, I like to read and blog. A year ago, I would have said that I love to scrapbook, but I've become torn. I discovered digital scrapbooking (was dragged into it kicking and screaming) and now I'm torn. Do I waste even more time on the computer, making digital scrapbooks that I could reprint at the click of a button should our house burn down? (My biggest fear is losing my scrapbooks in a fire. Could care less about any other material possessions. Just don't leave my scrapbooks in the house!!) Or do I keep making paper scrapbooks, because they're more fun to make?? Hmmmm.

Anyway, enough about me. I want to know about you! Do tell: What are your favorite hobbies?

That's my conflict as well! I used to love getting a night out to go to my favorite scrapbooking store (now closed) and play with all the paper, embellishments, etc. However, the 'clutter' started taking up too much room in the house, and I was making some of the pages more complicated (expensive) than I needed. I also found digital scrapbooking and realized I can do a page in mere seconds! Plus, all my pictures are on the computer anyway, and I can do more elaborate pages cheaper. Touch choice! The option I'm considering is doing most of my pages digitally, but then doing some paper pages and framing them to hang up in the home.

Oh, and my hobbies are reading, photography, sewing when I make time, and now working on digital scrapbooking.

I have to admit, I know nothing about scrapbooking, and I'd love to know more about digital scrapbooking, it sounds interesting! I love to read, so much so that everything else gets forgotten when I'm engrossed in a new book! Or even an old favourite. I do cross stitch too when I'm in the mood, and I'm going to learn how to sew an apron soon to take part in an apron swap on momys! I hope I'm a quick learner!
PS, can you let me know more about digital scrapbooking? Good sites to visit etc? Thanks :)

Ginger,

I've been in scrapbook transition as well! What I decided is that I don't have to be "all or nothing". I am finishing the traditional books that I've already started, and then the next book I start will be digital. I did a digital book for one of our birthmoms, and it was so easy & turned out so nice. The deal is, that as much as I love putting together the books, and being creative, the point is recording memories... so I figured out how much time I was putting into recording memories vs. making memories. That was my tell-tale sign! Now I only really work on my scrapbooks on my yearly retreat, or maybe a couple of other times in the year. My completed books are on bookshelves right by the front door - same thing. Let anything else in the house burn, but not my family or my scrapbooks! I like the protective sheet on the traditional books, and I like that you can add to them (like for a themed book that spans over many years... for example I put the Christmas cards & pics we receive into an album especially for that purpose, but it only requires a few pages each year, so it expands). But I love the fact that you can print multiple copies of a digital book, and I love how fast it goes.

The other things I like to do are read, write, crochet, and cook. I enjoy quilting, but haven't made a quilt since I had children. That'll be another season :o)

You stole that theme from me!

I like to read and play on the computer and read and play on the computer and play out side and read and play outside and... I think that's all. ;)

I have never scrapbooked or even had the desire to. Can you still be my friend?

I'm a cross-stitcher, reader and CL'er! We were watching old home movies last night with the kids, and I caught a glimpse of my current xs project. I'm so glad, too, since I forgot to write down when I began it. I can estimate now that Fall 2005 was the starting date. I'm working on the second half. Fourteen pages down! I'd have lots more done if it weren't for CL! It's taken over my evenings. ;)

You can see my project at http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Mommaofmany/463730/

Reading and hiking. Okay so how do you digital scrapbook? You have to do a blog on it. Beginners level please!

I like to read, just don't get to a lot.
I read a certain message board a lot :)

I like jigsaw puzzles in the winter.

We love to camp and hike and geocache (are those hobbies?).

I am in the same situation with the scrapbooking. I have made near 30 traditional books and I am currently making my first digital book. Once I get it in my hands and see the quality, the decision will be made.

I love to read, blog, knit and sew but seem to go in phases where I will do a lot of one thing and then move on to something else for a while. I just finished a knitting phase where I knit a ton of beanies for my kids and bonnets for my 2 new neices due any day now. Now I'm having the urge to sew something, anything but my machine is packed up in a house 500 miles away at the moment.
