Happiest New Year's Day Ever

I was awakened this morning at 8:30 am by the much-anticipated call from my sister, Jamie. Maya and I were out the door in 20 minutes, on our way to see my newest neice/nephew's birth. I had the camcorder charged and my camera all set (with memory card and everything, imagine that!) Exactly 3 hours later, I had a new nephew.

Eli Samuel was born at 11:30 am this morning, 8 lbs. Maya prayed over Jamie, in between contractions, just before she started pushing. She stayed at Jamie's head as Eli was delivered. I gotta brag, I was the first one to see his gender, but was barred from announcing anything. Most fun secret I ever kept (for 5 whole minutes, mind you!)

It's a BOY!

This is her third homebirth that I've been able to video; her fourth baby. In between contractions, she was already talking about having more. (To the shock of the midwives.) I've struggled with baby fever for the past year, but this pushed me over the edge! It was awesome!!

Psalm 127

3Children are a heritage from the LORD,
children a reward from him.

4Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are sons born in one's youth.

5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.

What better way to welcome in a new little life than surrounded by those you love. Amazing.

Congratulations! I bet you're just busting with joy! What a great way to ring in the new year, huh? :)

Let me know if you or Jamie need anything--I've got a stash of Charlie's Soap!

I am so excited for all of you! Look at that momma, wearing jeans and makeup after her home birth! Hospital births can't compare!

God bless,
Angela

Angela, that's ME wearing jeans and make up! Good grief. Jamie looked great, but she wasn't in jeans. HA!
