My mom's good friend, Carmen, is moving back to Honduras. My mom took her in when the pain of her cancer prevented her from climbing the stairs to her apartment. Carmen and her son, Jonathan, have been living with my mom and stepdad since May.
Carmen is a precious soul, one of the most loving and generous people I've met. Most patients in her stage of cancer are dependent on morphine drips to manage the pain, but Carmen refuses to let the cancer hold her hostage. Her liver is failing and she is dying. She is moving back home to be with family in her last days. We will miss her tenacious joy and sweet spirit. I'm so thankful that she will soon have a new body and live a new life pain-free. Lord, give her a big hug for all of us. We will miss her so much!

Thank you, my Ginger, for your tender words. My heart is breaking to be losing Carmen, and rejoicing that she will soon be within the embrace of Jesus Christ!
