Latest Reads

As you know, I'm a book addict. I've been reading Mansfield Park for quite awhile. I'm new to Jane Austen and I absolutely love her satirical style. About halfway through the book, however, I got several non-fiction books from InterLibrary Loan.
So, I'm working my way through Better Late Than Early, Adrenal Fatigue, and Financial Peace.

What are you currently reading?

I just finished "The Shakespeare Stealer" and "Red Heart" and I just started "The Yeast Connection" and "Ain't I a Woman?"

Teaching Minds Training Hearts by Starr Meade (devos with the kids), The Day I Ate Whatever I Wanted by Elizabeth Berg, Pocketful of Pinecones by Karen Andreola, Raising Godly Tomatoes by L Elizabeth Krueger, Trumpet of the Swan by EB White (with the kids)- there's always quite the pile on my night stand and I grab whatever I'm in the mood for!

I'm in a reading lull. When that happens, I pick up something off my shelf. So, currently I am reading James Herriot's Dog Stories.
I'm hoping to get back in a reading mood soon.

Ooh! I like The Shakespeare Stealer! After I read that one I wanted to learn shorthand. :) I'm not really reading anything right now. What I do is read a few chapters of a book first. Then if I like it, I'll finish it that day. If I don't like it, I'll probably never finish it.

I just finished reading James Herriot's books: All Things Bright and Beautiful, All Creatures Great and Small, All Things Wise and Wonderful, The Lord God Made Them All (still in the middle of that one). I love Dickens and started to read A Christmas Carol (never read it before) and although I know the story, Dickens is such an amazing writer.

However, late night on-line Christmas shopping and baby name books have replaced reading for me for awhile.

(I just read Indian in the Cupboard to the kids)

SO glad you asked! I'm reading Pickwick Papers by Dickens. It's hi-larious! I had it from the library for about 3 months though, before I ever started it, and now I have exceeded the maximum number of times I can renew, but I'm not finished yet, so I have to keep going in and making puppy dog eyes at the librarians so they will let me check it out again! (did that sentence make you cringe, grammer police?) I just finisehd a memoir, Daughter of the Saints: Growing up in Polygamy, and am also reading The Trouble Begins at 8: A life of Mark Twain in the Wild Wild West and Fine Print: A story about Johann Gutenberg. And the kids and I are reading Door in the Wall and Farmer Boy.
Masfield Park is one of the few Austen books I haven't read. Hmm...maybe I ought to go request it?

I just completed "The Last Sin Eater" by Francine Rivers. I rarely read fiction, and I just loved it! After my two older children read the book, I want to rent the movie. The only other book I've read by this author was "Redeeming Love", and although the story was good, the intimate nature of it bothered me.

I am reading, "The House on Sugar Beach", by Helene Cooper. It is of course, about Liberia. Before that I read "The Shack". Have you read that one?

Julie,

Yes, I've read The Shack. Search my blog for that title and check out the links in that first post. I had strong feelings about that book. :)

Beth,

I have loved all of Francine Rivers' books. Only wish she would write more.

I'm on the third book in the series of the Underground Zealot by Jerry B Jenkins. For you book lovers you will understand what happened to me this week. I read the first book Monday and didn't realize it was a series until the end of the book. I then had to wait two days on the Library to get the other two books in. It was torture.... Also reading Having a Mary heart in a Martha World and just finished When they rise up. We have a stack of books for the kids for Christmas and I so want to break into those but I'm sure I'll get caught!!

Thanks for telling me, Sherrie! Didn't know about that series!

I'm making a good TBR list here!

Oh, I just love Jane Austen. I think Mansfield Park is my favorite. I just finished an Austen "binge" lately. You'll have to try Jane Eyre next!

And Raymond Moore is the best too. I've got Homegrown Kids and The Successful Homeschool Family Handbook. Not read Better Late Than Early but I'd bet the gist is the same.

Enjoy your books!

Per your recommendation, Kristin, I'm now reading Jane Eyre. :)
