Sacrificial Love at its Best

Kyle and I have been doing the master cleanse for the last week. Kyle did this last year and I was so impressed with the results. He lost more than 10 lbs, his complexion was brighter, and overall he got a lot sexier.
I've been waiting for a time when we could do the cleanse together. (I don't have the self-discipline to do it alone.) I have been very pleasantly surprised by the experience. I have a lot of energy and I don't feel hungry. It is nothing like a fast.
I started getting cold symptoms on Day 8 and on Day 9 I felt like I had a cold and flu. (None of this happened to Kyle, I should mention!) Through all my reading, I discovered that this sometimes happens when the lungs are cleansing. The body is ridding itself of toxins and they are temporarily stirred up as the body works to flush them out. I'm hoping for a big improvement in my allergies and asthma! A complete healing would be optimal.
Yesterday was Day 10 and I was feeling much better. All the symptoms disappeared. So with my renewed energy, I decided to do something fun with the kids. This is something I rarely do. To be perfectly honest, it is a very special day when this Mommy bakes something. I like to cook, but I usually leave the baking to my sister.

Apple Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

1/2 C. unrefined coconut oil (or 1 stick of butter)

3/4 C. applesauce

1/2 C. sugar

3/4 C. brown sugar

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla

1.5 C. whole wheat pastry flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

3 C. Old fashioned oats

2 C. raisins

Beat oil, applesauce & sugars together. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients (except oats and raisins); add to sugar mixture. Stir in oats and raisins. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.

Oh, how exciting...I bake a lot, but the sing along in your most recent post is something we never do...

I'm interested in that master cleanse. I wonder if I could get my Honey to do it with me???

I can't believe it! You baked AND while cleansing!?! That truly is sacrificial. I don't think I could do it.

Ginger,
I would LOVE to do the master cleanse. Did you read the book and buy the lemonade stuff? I haven't perused the site thouroughly enough to find out if there's a way to do it without buying a ton of stuff? Any insight for me? Did you make your our lemonade concoction?
I love seeing Mommies baking with their kids. I adore baking and do so at least once a week if not more. Each time I rotate kids so that all get to help but so that I'm not overwhelmed with more than one contained mess at a time. Fun, fun! And the recipe looks good too. I'll have to try it this week!

Faith,

There's not a "ton of stuff" to buy; just fresh lemons, Grade B maple syrup, and senna leaf tea. It is really easy to make the lemonade: 2 oz. fresh lemon juice, 2 oz. maple syrup, 8 oz. filtered water. We squeezed a whole bunch of lemons at once and kept a jar of lemon juice in the fridge to make it easy on us.
Any health food store should have all you need.

Let me know how it goes!

Ok Ginger, I need your help! My hubby decided to do the cleanse with me. I have all the ingredients and have read over the website a few times. Can you very simply give me a daily regimine of what you did? How often can you have the mint tea? Does it matter what kind of mint tea it is? Also, what about the cayenne pepper? On the worksheet it doesn't say anything about it. How often do you need to take it a day and how much water to how much cayenne? I think that is all my ?'s. Sorry I'm asking so much but I really don't want to buy the book!
BTW, how do you feel now? Did you loose weight?
Blessings, Faith

First thing in the morning, do the saltwater flush (2 tsp. sea salt (non-iodized) in 1 qt. lukewarm water). Chug it - don't nurse it. Then you may start drinking the lemonade anytime. Drink 6-12 glasses of lemonade each day. In each 10 oz. lemonade, add 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper. You will need to shake it up each time you want a drink, otherwise you end up with one very spicy last swig.
At bedtime, drink the senna leaf tea. Anytime during the day you may drink peppermint tea. The lemonade will satisfy you tho!
I still feel great! I don't have a scale, so don't know how much weight I lost but I am fitting into "those jeans" again so I can tell I've lost inches from my waistline.

Hi Ginger! Just wondering how you broke your fast. Did you ease into regular food or just go back immmediately to eating normally??
Thanks!

Good question! I googled how to break the master cleanse. I can give you the link if you'll email me (or pm me thru Momys). The first day is OJ only. That was harder than the cleanse IMO. The 2nd day is OJ until dinner, then I had a homemade vegetable soup. 3rd day is OJ for breakfast, veggie soup for lunch, big salad for dinner. I'm really glad I "followed the rules" - it was a smooth transition. I know from the experience of others that going right back to normal foods is a really bad idea. :)
