Date Nights

This past weekend, Kyle asked my mom to babysit so we could go to Oktoberfest for the evening. We kissed everyone good-bye (and that takes a while!) and headed out the door. When we arrived, the parking garage was blocked off. All the spots were taken. That was the only free parking area. All the rest were $10. Compared to free, we weren't too excited about spending $10. So we kept trying to find another parking spot, to no avail.

We bailed and went out to eat instead.

I'm curious: What do you and your honey enjoy doing for a date?

Dinner, browsing at a book store. Or having an at home date- get the kids to bed on time, cook a great "grown up" dinner and actually light some candles!

We love to go out to eat. Sometimes we wander around Goodwill together or a bookstore afterwards.

We realized though that our date nights have stretched out to 6 months apart and that's not working for us. We are going to come up with good ideas that we can do much more frequently for little money.

Well, we do not go out just the two of us that often. But when we do, it is usually for a meal. A meal somewhere that we probably would not go to with our whole crew.

One of my favorite outings with just the two of us is our local annual homeschool convention--yes, I am a geek! It is nice to spend time talking and sharing our vision for our family. Very refreshing!

In the next season of our life, I would love to travel with my hubby and explore new places with him. We have such fun doing those kinds of things together!

We have a set date-day...the first Saturday of every month. We go to the monthly library book sale for about an hour, then get something to eat. Sometimes we go to the range and enjoy some time shooting, we might go mountain-biking at a local trail, or simply do some window shopping.

We usually have a meal out and do a few errands. We also love to browse the book store with no littles in tow. We haven't had a date in a while so the other night we got the four youngest to bed and left the next two olders in charge while we "snuck out" for ice cream. We sat with our treat and talked. MUCH NEEDED!

We're pretty spoiled around here. Having an older child really helps. We usually go eat at our favorite steak house on Saturday and just hang out together.

My sweetie and I don't go out that often, but when we do we love to go to the German resturant around the corner for dessert & coffee and a good long chat. Tonight we are going to the movies to see Fireproof. I am so excited; I've been waiting for this night for over 6 weeks.

We like to see a great movie when one is available, and there is a great one coming out tonight - Fireproof - made by the same church that put out Facing the Giants a couple of years ago.

Well, lately we've been hanging out at The Shops at Legacy. We eat at one of the many restaurants there, walk around a bit, do some people watching(my absolute FAVORITE pastime)! Then we stop off and listen to whomever is performing on the street that night(always impressive) before finally heading to the Angelika for a funky independent film. We've done this almost every weekend for 6 weeks now!!! :) haven't tired of it yet. We also go to B&N sometimes and/or visit a quaint little French restaurant (Gregory's) in old downtown "my town". It has a rooftop dining area which is sometimes fun.

Hope you are well! Miss seeing your smile!!

Have you been?

bookstore browsing almost everytime, and a fun exotic meal somewhere (though we're severely limited with that out here in Maine!)

I love, love, love going to shows though. Doesn't happen nearly enough but when it does, I am one happy wife :)
