You know that I have strong opinions about homeschooling, and vaccines, and well, everything else. It's just my nature to be opinionated. But here's an area I have yet to delve into:
I want to know what you think about all these bailouts?
I want to know what you think about all these bailouts?
Ford Motor Co. is asking Congress for a $9 billion "stand-by line of credit" to stabilize its business, but says it doesn't expect to tap it.
Detroit's automakers, making a second bid for $25 billion in funding, are presenting Congress with plans Tuesday to restructure their ailing companies and provide assurances that the funding will help them survive and thrive.
General Motors Corp., Ford and Chrysler LLC said they would refinance their companies' debt, cut executive pay, seek concessions from workers and find other ways of reviving their staggering companies.
The Big Three executives also are offering a series of mostly symbolic moves to burnish their images, badly tattered after they arrived in Washington D.C. last month on three separate private jets to plead for a federal lifeline for their struggling companies.
More here.
Now I know a lot of my readers aren't even in America, but I bet you still have an opinion about our sour economy. Let's hear it!

I Love the bailouts. Just waiting for mine.
We have a business. We run it in such a way as to be good stewards. We aren't getting a bailout. When disesel doubled a couple years ago and we made less money...we spent less.
Here's what I would look at if I were in Congress...
Are the big guys in the coorp. still making tons of money...if they are- NO bailout!! Obviously some people just don't want to take a paycut.
We've taken them before and we ate just fine thank-you very much. :D
Bailout? No such thing. Our choices determine our destiny. For every choice we make there is a consequence. Some are good. Others are not.
We ought to be mightily concerned about the fact individuals (corporations - made up of individuals) think they can be irresponsible and everyone else is going to pay for it.

which are reconciled with the Bible,
and muse this, God is judging America for the things we have done.

I picked up reading your blog through a series of others that have adopted from Liberia and have you linked. Hope you don't mind me posting.
The bailouts are so ridiculous! They are treating materialism and horrible stewardship with a dirty bandaid.
Those bailouts will be paid with *our* dollars. Government needs to stay out of our private industry and our "free enterprise" system. If they did these things would correct themseleves. I think President Regan proved that less government is better.
I think that the bailouts are just a bandaid--a cheap one:)...meaning, it won't even help for very long. Just like us normal people, businesses should have to live with consequences of their spending and decisions. Until they get rid of the Union fees and problems from them, they probably won't ever have a fix to their problem. It would be kind of interesting to see reality hit some of these companies---escept for all those poor people that would lose their jobs. Those are my Russian,Finish, but basic American thoughts!!!
I am fed up with the bailout talks.
Who is really paying for it? WE are.
How are we paying for it? higher taxes and of course printing more money which will bring on higher inflation and make things even worse.
this is a cycle that needs broke NOW before it is too late. sadly I doubt it will be fixed til we move to one world currency and a new leader steps up to 'save' us from ourselves. :(
