More Kids & Money

A good friend of mine recently found out she's pregnant with #5. One of the responses she got to her announcement was:

Are you being financially responsible? I mean, if you were financially independent that would be one thing, but. . .

Considering how many families of four are in debt up to their eyeballs, I found this statement quite interesting. What do you think?

I think there is no reason to question God when he blesses a family with a child, whether #1 or #20. "Every good and perfect gift is from above..." and "blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." Asking a pregnant mom if she's being financially responsible is like asking if you had sex last night. It's nobody's business but yours, and even if they don't agree with your decision, they should keep their opinions to themselves.

What a great answer!! I wholeheartedly agree.

That is just crazy talk. We had someone ask about our finances when we were blessed with #4. It was none of their business and my not so subtle husband told them so. And to think, they were worried because we live on a "budget." The poor dears... Dave Ramsey was right. When broke people start wondering about you, you're going down the right path!

It just annoys me. I realize that is not very profound but it really does. Since when is a the blessing of a new child up for public discussion. Really!

I figure if God had wanted me to be debt free before I had another baby, he would have closed my womb. After all, scripture makes it clear He is in charge of the womb.
Funny thing is, the more I obey and receive each blessing from the Lord, the better off we are financially. God's ways are not our ways.

You're right, Jamie. God is sovereign!
