The Cold Hard Truth

An old friend of mine posted on Facebook that he had the flu. I said: It's better than the nasty stuff in the vaccine, but that stinks. I'm so sorry! (As it turns out, not surprisingly, he had received the flu shot.)
That led to a discussion about vaccines. (I love being able to talk to people about vaccines, but I also know it's not at all fun to learn. Ignorance is definitely bliss.) I said: I don't encourage you to look into vaccine ingredients unless you're prepared to be grossed out. Apparently he was.

Incredulous, he asked: Why hasn't anybody told me this before?

If doctors really did offer informed consent, as they are ethically supposed to do, would any loving parent really sign up to inject those toxins into their kids? Does anybody who knows what vaccines are made from and how they're made still vaccinate their kids or themselves?

In my idealistic world, nobody would. Fear motivates a lot of people to do things without looking into them. Education is the enemy of fear.

Hi Ginger....I agree with you about the flu shots and I've never had one nor will I ever have one willingly. However, what's your take on the polio vaccine? It has all the same toxins as the others, but look how many lives it has saved! Just like everything else, there's the good side and the dark side.

Great info! Thank you for sharing.

Jeanne,
Who told you that the polio vax saved a bunch of lives? Consider the source. Polio was vanishing at the same time in Europe, but they didn't have any polio vaccines until years later.

We have opted to stop vaxing for a few years now and I'm very happy we did. Great Post. :)

It's unfortunate that readers like Dr G cannot agree to disagree, afterall this is your blog and you have the right to speak your truth.

I tho't she was agreeing to disagree. (See her smiley.)
Dr. G is my cousin, she's a D.O. and we're both very opinionated. We don't have to agree. :)

Jeanne, Do the research yourself. Jonas Saulk (inventor of the polio vaccine) said himself that it was not his vaccine that caused the disappearance of polio.

Actually, I've read research that says Polio was disappearing in the USA before the vaccine came out. Unfortunately, the vaccine gets all the credit.
Not to mention the fact that mumps was not very rampant anymore when the vaccine was invented, but now we have huge mumps outbreaks, like the one 2 years ago, in which 90% of the inflicted were vaccinated against the disease.
Also, I know multiple instances when children contracted whooping cough after receiving the vaccine. And my MIL comes down with the flu every year after she is "forced" to get the vaccine.
Do you see a pattern?

Ginger...your mother and I were children when so many children were being treated in iron lungs for polio and without that iron lung, they would have died. If they survived at all, they had to wear braces on their legs like Forrest Gump. Of course this was a million years ago.

Thanks for your understanding. I was agreeing to disagree…thus the smiley. I am a passionate person with definite opinions. I don’t think having opposite views on some things changes our relationship as cousins. But after the Why I hate doctors part 1-10, Dr. Wal-Mart thing, followed closely by your poll on who your readers are, I really felt that I could spend my time doing other things that are more meaningful to me.

Your reading population is pretty homogenous and reacts very strongly to a different or opposite opinion. Most of the comments you see on your posts are…’thank you so much…I totally agree...great ideas’. Like you, I like to expose myself to a varied a perspectives on life but every time I had a comment on one of your posts that was not ‘on the Ginger train’ I was getting attacked by your readers, it was time to move one. Yes it is your blog that you should be able to express your opinions and beliefs but it is also a public forum where you allow others to comment. If your readers don’t want to disagree, maybe they should stick to reading blogs that are private and with whom they share like beliefs. I obviously don’t agree with most of your herbal medicine or some of your religious views but I love to hear about your family, parenting style and organizational ideas. So I came back for a visit…and …think I’ll go back to just visiting with you on FB. 

Thanks, Kelley. :) I was really surprised by that poll- here I tho't I was being controversial and everybody agrees with me. That's no fun! lol

What's wrong with those so-called "toxins"? I don't get the fuss.

Ginger and all....I must plead ignorance about polio being "on the way out" when the polio vaccine was created. I just remember being so afraid when I was a little girl that I would get polio; and having to live in that iron lung. I also remember gladly taking the vaccine to prevent it. Just the thoughts and fears of a small child reborn with all this anti-vaccine conversation. We each have to take the path we feel is best for us as an individual.

Well stated, Aunt Jeanne. Exactly my point! Fear makes people make decisions without researching them. Because of fear, people will run out and get a shot of who-knows-what and they have no idea what they're injecting in their bodies. So sad!

Thom, that's too funny, really. Here's the fuss:

I definitely am not offended by people with differences of opinion. Ginger, good job of not taking it personally!

I got the flu a few years ago and I survived without a vax.

I'm torn on this one. I've been reading alot lately about vaccines and can't believe the stuff we're injecting (or have injected) into our bodies. On the other hand, my grandmother's three siblings all died within 48 hours of Diptheria. I can't imagine a mother losing all her children like that. My grandmother was born much later and was understandably overprotected!! So I don't know....I would love your thoughts on this. Also, what about the rabies vaccine? If one of your children were bitten by a rabid animal, would you vaccinate them? I understand that rabies is 100% fatal. So I'm thinking I would take my chances with the vaccine!!! But there may be much I don't know about it..... What do you think?
